Larry Coles moved from a small town in southern
New Jersey to San Francisco in May of 1982, shortly after having
graduated from a small state college in Pennsylvania. He has
been a legal secretary for over 20 years, and a part-time writer
for the past ten years; writing after work as a way of relaxing.
He participated in the National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo)
in November of 2004, completing a 60,000+ word vampire novel
before Thanksgiving; in November of 2005, completing a 104,660
word warlock/vampire romance novel; and again in November of
2006, completing a 59,000+ word gay romance novel involving
two of the fraternity brothers from Freshman Pledge.
He started writing stories based on erotic short stories, wanting
to flesh out and give depth to the characters and the story.
Larry is a romantic at heart and desires for all of his characters
to find and have romantic relationships, much like the one he
found in 2001.
Larry lives in San Francisco with his partner
of five years, Darrin, and their three-year-old chocolate brown
cat, Armand. On February 20, 2004, after Mayor Gavin Newsom
allowed same sex marriages to be performed, Larry and Darrin
were married at S.F. City Hall. In August of 2004, the California
Supreme Court ruled all 4,000+ same sex marriages that had been
performed in S.F. were illegal and had them annulled. Larry
and Darrin hope that one day the Court’s ruling will be
overturned and they will once again be allowed to legally marry.
